Casa Mercatale has beautiful terracotta tiles and beamed ceilings. It has 530 sqm of living space divided into two floors and sleeps 10 guests in 5 bedrooms(can sleep 14 people with use of 4 extra beds available upon request and charged). With the use of the dependence (with owner approval), the villa could possibly even sleep 15 to 16 guests. All the upstairs bedrooms have air-conditioning. The fenced property consists of 10,000 sqm and includes the house (530 sqm), the pool (15 x 7,50 meters, open May 1 – Sept 30) with Jacuzzi, and a locked dependence (40 sqm) used for storage.
A typical rough dirt road (1200 meters) brings you to the home, through vineyards, and olive groves. The house was built a 1000 years ago. It was a small monastery and evolved into a country house some centuries later and has been totally restored in 2006. The location couldn’t be better: private, tranquil position on a hillside just 5 minutes (2 km) from Mercatale Val di Pesa, 15 minutes south of Florence, with easy access to the charming Chianti hill towns, 50 minutes from Siena, and 1 hour from Lucca.
On the ground floor there is a spacious dining area with a table for 12 people. On the left of the dining room there is a nice living room where 4 steps lead to an additional room. The additional room is a bedroom with a queen bed and en suite bathroom (no air-conditioning in this bedroom). Also off of the living room area is the carefully designed, fully equipped kitchen. A study-TV/Sat room and guest WC completes the ground floor.
The spacious upper floor has a central living room, with three sofas and a working fireplace set along one wall. There are 3 double bedrooms each with en suite bathrooms and a large master bedroom with a decorative fireplace and en suite bathroom with Jacuzzi tub. All the upstairs bedrooms have AC.
Outside there is a stone patio with a BBQ. The patio is covered and provides shadow for al fresco dining. From here some steps take you to the stunning fresh water pool with Jacuzzi. The pool area is furnished with sun-beds, tables and chairs with umbrellas.
Maid service is daily (3 hrs/day Monday to Saturday). Parking is available on the property. Upon request and approval of the owner a late arrival is possible between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm for an extra fee of 50 euros.
